I read that collagen supplements don’t work because the collagen/protein gets broken down in the stomach just like any other protein we eat. I take this to mean that eating collagen does not supply the body with more of it. Your take? Thank you!

In switching over from commercial beauty products to home made ones, I notice that collagen was a BIG part of my hair and skin routine that seemed unreplacable!! I’m glad to find out I was Wrong and also to learn about real health benefits of collagen. I’m healing leaky gut and Candida and we make a pot of chicken soup weekly. I’ve noticed that my husband, daughter and I are detoxing through our pores. We are all in better moods and just feel good overall.

I now that I know that collagen is the magical ingredient , im going to use this article to increase our intake. Great and timely article, Dr. Axe! Thank you!

Yes it is 16oz. The red is gelatin, the green is collagen.

Also, if I were looking at Great Lakes Gelatin, what is the difference between plain Gelatin (red) and Gelatin Collagen Hydrolysate (green)? Thank you for your response, and all the great information you share!!!

It has helped my nails for sure but haven’t noticed the other benefits you’ve mentioned. Would you improve this drink in any way?

Do you just eat the bone broth, nothing added for the 3 days?
